Nest Building with Desmodeus – Welcome to the CBT!!

I’m Desmodeus, the lead producer for Dragon Nest. Initially I was just going to let Lucius and Princess K unleash their crazies here and only interject on this blog occasionally. However, I’m absolutely in love with this game and I love sharing what gets me so pumped about it. So this week I wanted to talk with you a bit about the Closed Beta Test and how we use it to help make the game better.

Opening the Doors to Dragon Nest

Welcome to the world of Dragon Nest,Cheap Buy Dragon Nest , my friends! For the first time since my team and I began this journey many months ago - and I mean that literally - we saw the kickoff of our Closed Beta test. The initial reaction to the game from fans has been spectacular.. While we’re thrilled, we also know that the Closed Beta test is the beginning, not the end of our real work. To explain, let me tell you a little bit about what we do while you’re enjoying your time in the beta and how your participation will help us make Dragon Nest an even better game.

The CBT is Serious Business

One of the most important things to realize is that a Beta Test is viewed and valued differently by the developers than the players. Beta Tests can be run for a variety of reasons:

         • Bug Hunting: Testers help find any serious game-killing bugs that the internal QA team might have missed, allowing us to fix them before the game is released.

         • Stress Testing: Get a lot of people on the game servers to test out the hardware infrastructure under various conditions, allowing for a problem-free launch without server crashes or long log-in queues.

         • Game Balance Testing: Monitor data and commentary about how people play the game, allowing us to measure if quests or dungeons are too hard or too easy, if a class or skill is overpowered or underpowered, of if some small overlooked element (perhaps a poorly written bit of text or a quest trigger that doesn’t fire) makes part of the game unplayable.

         • Marketing: Give a hands-on preview to the press and the most enthusiastic players to generate positive buzz, via articles and the excited chatter of fans on message boards, and increase interest in the game.

Being a Good Beta Tester

Beta tests are often run for a combination of all four reasons, Buy Dragon Nest Power leveling, and that’s pretty much the case with Dragon Nest. Obviously, the bug hunting aspect is the most critical for my team. While we believe the current version of the game is pretty bug-free, it still needs some clean-up before release, making bug submission one of the most important duties of a Closed Beta tester.

The second two aspects, stress and game balance testing, Buy Dragon Nest Accounts, are interrelated in that players contribute to them just by playing the game. The stress aspect is pretty obvious. We want to have as many concurrent users as possible to make sure our hardware is ready (so far, so good). In terms of testing game balance, we track everything you do during the Closed Beta, generating reams of data that we mine to figure out where issues are. Is there a particular quest that’s not being completed very often? Is there a dungeon that’s just too hard, or perhaps isn’t being used at all? We consider the data, adjust the game and hopefully fix the problem.

I remember an MMORPG I worked on a few years back where we were trying to figure out why so few people ever entered this one particular cave. The monsters weren’t overpowered and it gave good treasure and EXP for its level. We were stuck. So we asked the beta testers why they never went in. The answer we got was shocking. A lot of people said, “What cave?” It turned out there was a graphics bug that caused the cave mouth to disappear when the game was displayed in less than maximum resolution. It’s the kind of thing we missed and only found thanks to testers playing the game on all sorts of different systems.

Spreading the Good News

Finally, the marketing aspect of the Closed Beta. This is perhaps the easiest step for testers. If you like the game, tell your friends and see if they might like to play. If you don’t, tell us what you think would make the game better. It’s really as simple as that. We’ve been pumped about this game for months, but we’ve also had the advantage of being able to play it and experience how much fun it is. The Closed Beta is your chance to see what we’ve been so excited about.

Have a great time in Dragon Nest!
